Feet in the sand, head in the clouds ~ I paint the healing colors reflected of earth, sky, and water. I came to Mathews County, Virginia to paint in 2000. I set up my easel between inland waterways and the Bay at Bethel Beach Sanctuary, and feel the flow of the watershed seep through my bones.
At my studio by the pond in Cobbs Creek, I paint at the vortex of the largest estuary in North America. Fed by two woodland streams, my pond flows into Queen's Creek, the Piankatank River, Hills Bay, and the Chesapeake – connecting me with the Atlantic Ocean, filtering grit through brackish water as I paint.
Oyster & Pearl reflects this sacred contract with nature, to work together as one. In twenty-five years of painting in this cherished place, my paintings tell the story of our relationship with nature. Our legacy expands a deeper understanding, appreciation, and collaboration as Oyster & Pearl.
