Embody the Watershed as you find harmony with nature's healing flow.
Mirroring the landscape restores us. When I perched with my easel on the narrow strip of sand, between inland marsh and the Bay at Bethel Beach Sanctuary, I felt the watershed. Feet in the sand, head in the clouds – I felt the healing colors of earth, sky, and water restore my creative heart. I know you've felt this too!
We are aquaculture. For fifty years, I painted within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. From the Appalachian highlands into the pond beside my studio, I feel the trickle of two woodland streams, filtering flow through brackish waters. I've felt myself perched amid the marsh, somewhere between Queen's Creek, the Piankatank River, Hills Bay, and the Chesapeake – I felt the aquifer right under my feet – a sacred confluence with the Atlantic Ocean opened my creative heart to the healing purpose of my artistry.
Our sacred contract with nature – to work together as one – mirrors oyster and pearl. Embedded in the grit beneath shallow waters – as the oyster we filter the flow – of the largest estuary in North America. We create our own watershed moments – revealing the pearls within each of us – as we go within the flow.
