I began focusing on plein air painting streams and creeks. I painted throughout the highlands of Virginia and West Virginia in the 80s. Using mostly pastel, I began most often on earth toned paper, grounding my flow with the earth.
Working intuitively, I charted my healing through the landscape by following streams and creeks from their highland source. Crustacean fossils embedded in boulders on mountain streambeds evoked feelings yet to be unearthed.
